DAR searching for families of WWI veterans

Aug. 31--This year marks the 100th anniversary of World War One and the DAR is planning a special event to honor the veterans.

Part of the ceremony planned by the DAR is honoring the families of 19 WWI soldiers from Beauregard Parish.

Those soldiers include:

Hebert S. Houk

*

William Walter Jones

*

Walter B. Lewis

Frank Miers

*

Cyrus Winfery Mitchell

*

Elton Roy Stewart

*

Ross D. Walkner

*

Luther West

The Daughters of the American Revolution is also asking for family members of any WWI veteran who settled in the Beauregard area after the war.

Their intentions are to honor all of those men who served the country in WWI and who also called this area home.

The ceremony is planned for November 19 at the Civic Center in DeRidder.
