14-in-1 Solar Robot
The 14-in-1 Solar Robot is an interactive, educational engineering kit for making solar powered robots, designed for children ages 10 and up with learning disabilities to have them learn about pivotal solar powered technology. The process and the creations encourages scientific learning, logic, and creativity. Users start with the first level of basic robot building and create silly creatures that move around the table. For basic building skills level, players build the turtle bot, beetle bot, q
Baxter
Baxter is a prototype device to explore how robots can help blind people and visually impaired more effectively navigate urban environments. This improves the lives of blind people who are otherwise fearful of exploring unfamiliar environments and performing necessary tasks associated with urban living – crossing the street, sorting bus tickets or finding the right storefront. The robot figures out what bus ticket is needed and slides it in front of the blind person, telling the person “I am sli
Buddy
Buddy is a humanoid companion. Buddy’s brain is an integrated 8-inch tablet with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth. Its 3D vision lets it easily track and interpret hand, arm, and head movements; distinguish among objects, faces, animals, plants, etc.; and gauge the depth of objects in its sight. Buddy is fully mobile with three wheels and a plethora of sensors allowing it to travel, learn, and interact with the world around it. Buddy was built on a modular, flexible open source platform to allow hard
Fun Micro:bit Robot - EASY and Inexpensive!
The Fun Micro:bit Robot - EASY and Inexpensive! is a Do It Yourself product designed for individuals with neurological disabilities to enhance their cognitive abilities. With this project, the creator will learn some electronics, basic micro:bit coding and how to use the accelerometer and Bluetooth features of micro:bit.
HAL®for Medical Use - Lower Limb Model [European Model]
HAL®for Medical Use - Lower Limb Model [European Model] is a medical device for people who have disorders in the lower limb and people whose legs are weakening, to allow them movement in their lower body. It is made to aid people with limited mobility enhance their existing physical capabilities. Designed by Cyberdyne Corporation in Japan, and created to "upgrade the existing physical capabilities of the human body." Whenever individuals try to make a move, the brain sends nerve signals to the
Iarm
The iARM is a robotic arm designed for use by individuals with upper extremity amputation, severe physical or upper extremity disabilities, or spinal cord injury. The iARM is designed to perform the functions of an arm and hand, including grasping objects using a gripper and moving those objects once they are held. Common arm positions may be stored to easily regain frequent positions. The iARM can lift up to 1.5 kilograms (kg). Using the optional bracket, the iARM can be attached to a powered w
Kompaï
Kompaï is a robot designed to assist the elderly, people with disabilities, and others who need special care. The mobile robot talks, understands speech, and can navigate autonomously. It reminds people of meetings, keeps track of shopping lists, plays music, and works as a video conference system for users to talk with their doctors, for example.
LEGO Boost Pipe Cleaner Bending Robot
The LEGO Boost Pipe Cleaner Bending Robot is a Do It Yourself product designed for children with learning disabilities to create in their home or at school. It was designed for the 2019 Coderdojo Belgium Coolest Projects fair. The contestants built a LEGO Boost variant of Yoshihito Isogawa's Mindstorms pipe cleaner bending robot. The user builds the robot on two 8 x 16 stud, regular height plates. One is just for holding the Boost motor block, the other one holds the mechanism itself.
NAO
NAO is an interactive, humanoid robot designed to assist children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It is intended to help reduce their anxiety, offer encouragement, build trust, and bridge the communication gap between children with ASD and the people around them. NAO can move with 25 degrees of freedom; perceive the environment around him using the sensors in his head, hands and feet; hear and speak using his four directional microphones and loudspeakers; see and recognize the shapes arou
Robotic Trolley For The Elderly
The Robotic Trolley For The Elderly is a height-adjustable grocery cart prototype designed for the elderly and people with upper and lower extremity disabilities, that allows them to easily unload their cart. Users can help users change the height so they don't have to lift their bags very far.
Social Robot with Emotion and Memory
Researchers at the University of Hertfordshire have developed a prototype of a social robot that can support independent living for the elderly, while working in partnership with their relatives or caregivers. The robot uses a state of the art service platform called Care-O-bot® 3 and works within a smart-home environment. A team of nine partner institutions from across five European countries are part of a project called Acceptable RobotiCs COMPanions for AgeiNg Years (ACCOMPANY). Over the past
Star Wars BB-8 App-Enabled Droid
The Star Wars™ BB-8™ App-Enabled Droid™ is designed for children ages 8 and up with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder to engage their minds in science and learning about space. Features a unique adaptive personality that changes as users play, BB-8™ shows a range of expressions and even perks up when given commands. Users may set it to patrol and watch the Droid explore autonomously, make up their own adventure and guide BB-8™ their self, or create and view holographic recordi
Superflex Robot Suit
The Superflex Robot Suit is meant for the aging population and those with mobility disabilities to use clothing to address their daily challenges. It is a sensor-equipped, computer-controlled clothing for senior citizens who have trouble with mobility. The suit’s sensors are designed to be able to track the posture and movement of the body, and process data to send a motor “assist” when the wearer is leaning forward in a chair, getting ready to stand up, or even starting to raise their arms abov
