Time to act on mental health Letter: Time to act on mental health

Roanoke Times - 7/8/2017

It's been 10 years since the Virginia Tech tragedy and can you tell me why Virginia is falling way short on mental health and its treatment. Bills are being put to the General Assembly and of course they are voted down which leaves the jails and prisons not able to properly address the mental health care and the mentally ill people in the system which leads to more tragedy like the Jamycheal Mitchell incident, which is a shame.

I myself suffer from several mental health disorders and I want help. I want to know when Virginia is going to step up and do something about mental health and its treatment so that all people can get help, including inmates in jails and prisons.

So please, lawmakers, step up, quit lip-synching and showcasing and actually do something to help mental health and its treatment.
